Dot has published her first memoir, BOARDWALK FOOTSTEPS. It  is available from Alaska bookstores and can be purchased on Amazon.

This memoir tells the story of Dot’s 5 summers living at a remote salmon cannery in SE Alaska where the only way one could get there was by float plane or fish boat.  Filled with photos, the book is entertaining and fills a valuable void in Alaska history. Chatham Cannery is where Dot earned her early reputation for recording scenes with plein air watercolors. The cannery is where she made her first sale in 1964. One of the chapters describes her painting technique. Told with humor and authority, others cover experiences of living with other cultures, (Alaska Natives, Filipinos, and Japanese technicians) , children’s antics exploring the boardwalk, how the cannery functioned, and her love affair with her husband, Linne.
