I got lucky when my art was chosen

This is my first blog. I thought I’d start with a nice break I got from a call from Sec. of State. Rex Tillerson. He needed gifts to give to the other 7 Arctic countries. I think he selected my watercolor, “Back from a Paddle”, because it showed one of Alaska’s melting glaciers. Afterall, the purpose of the meeting in Fairbanks was for dignitaries of 8 Arctic countries to come together about how to address problems of the Arctic. The idea was to help scientists work across borders, share information, and cut red tape in dealing with possible climate change in a place where it really shows. It was a week long program including top diplomats like Rex Tillerson, scientists and other experts. But it also involved the public as thousands of people attended various related events, both in Fairbanks and Anchorage.

I was thrilled to be a part of it in some small way. 7 framed giclee prints of “Back from a Paddle” went home to 7 nations to remind them of the high profile gathering of dignitaries with mutual intent and fellowship. You can see “Back from a Paddle” on my website. Go to SCENERY. Dot
